Winter sports in Mallnitz
Mallnitz is the perfect place for a winter sport holiday in Austria. Ideal for a family vacation with children, but also touring skiers and snowboarders are fully attracted to Mallnitz.
The 3246 m high house mountain Ankogel receives its snow from both the north and south side of the Tauern main ridge and is therefore one of the most snow‑certain ski areas in Carinthia.
From early December, winter begins in Mallnitz and the village and surrounding three‑thousanders turn into a winter sports paradise for every skier.

Ankogel – a snow‑certain ski mountain
The linked cabins of the Ankogelbahn take you from the 1200 m high valley station in two stages to the slopes. The first stage goes to the Mittelstation Hochalmblick (2000 m) and then further to the Elschesattel (2636 m).
On the upper part of the ski area, a pair of chairlifts take you further to several wide slopes for skiers, carvers, and snowboarders.
The beautiful varied and sometimes demanding piste first runs over tree‑free slopes and then snakes through the woods to the valley station parking lot.
Beginners can enjoy themselves excellently on the perfect slopes at the valley station with both Köfele lifts (chairlift and pancake lift). The pistes here are wide and very gentle. A separate beginner ski pass is available for the Köfele lifts.
The ski schools offer lessons for beginners to advanced in (tour) skiing and snowboarding, and children can already attend the ski school from the age of 3. (Dutch‑speaking ski instructors present)
